The reward for the winning market in each category will be a shipment of No Farms No Food® tote bags, along with other prizes including free printing services from igreenprint and free graphic design services from Virginia based design firm, SQN Communications. The categories are based on the number of vendors the farmers market has. American Farmland Trust: Saving the Land that Sustains Us
American Farmland Trust is the leading national organization dedicated to saving America’s farm and ranch land, promoting healthy farming practices and supporting farms and farmers. As the vital link among farmers, conservationists and policy-makers, we’re focused on ensuring the availability of fresh food, a healthy environment and strong local economies across the nation. Since our founding in 1980 by a group of farmers and citizens concerned about the rapid loss of farmland to development, we've helped save millions of acres of farmland from development and led the way for establishing sound environmental practices on millions more. The benefits of bountiful and protected working lands represent our best bet for a healthy, sustainable future — and our plan to help America guarantee that future through comprehensive stewardship of the nation’s working lands is based on the following key programs:
Farmers Market Coalition
The Westhampton Beach Farmers Market is a Member of the Farmers Market Coalition. The Farmers Market Coalition seeks to strengthen farmers markets' capacity to serve farmers, consumers, and communities across North America by providing the rapidly growing movement with information and representation at state and federal levels. They build networks, link peers, and connect farmers markets both old and new with tools and resources for market success. The Westhampton Beach Farmers Market utilizes the resources of the Farmers Market Coalitiion to come up with innovative market campaigns, market special events and public community awareness techniques to help with the farmers market of our East End community. No Farms No Food Bumper Sticker ![]() The message is simple and couldn't be more clear—America's farms and ranches provide an unparalleled abundance of fresh, healthy and local food, but they are rapidly disappearing. Ninety-one percent of America’s fruit and seventy-eight percent of our vegetables are grown near metro regions, where they are in the path of development. And every hour we lose 125 acres of farm and ranch land. That's why supporting local food and farms is more important than ever!

The Westhampton Beach Farmers' Market is a member of the Long Island Farm Bureau. "Farm Bureau" was founded in 1911 in Upstate New York by a group of farmers who wanted representation to deal with the changing face of agriculture in their area. They wanted an organization that fould fight for their rights, promote and serve agriculture, disseminate educational information and teach them about the best farming practices available to them. Nearly a century later, Farm Bureau is still working to carry out farmer's wishes dealing with the continually changing face of agriculture not only in New York, but in the United States as well. Currently, there are over five million Farm Bureau members throughout the Untied States!"Farm Bureau" is a wonderful and unique American concept - Farm Bureau is a true grassroots, member-driven organization with a century's legacy in political activism. Farm bureaus are private, non-partisan not-for profit agricultural membership and advocay organizations known as "The Voice of Commercial Agriculture." In Nassau and Suffolk counties, the Long Island Farm Bureau is the voice of Long Island agriculture. New York Farm Bureau ![]() The Westhampton Beach Farmers' Market is a member of the New York Farm Bureau. The mission of New York Farm Bureau is "To Serve And Strengthen Agriculture." Farm Bureau is a non-governmental, volunteer organization financed and controlled by member families for the purpose of solving economic and public policy issues challenging the agricultural industry. Farm Bureau‘s "grassroots" policy development process continues to ensure that the organization represents the majority position of its membership. Policy development begins at the county level with problem identification and culminates at the New York Farm Bureau Annual Meeting with resolutions addressing the issues. Our success in implementing policies depends upon our active, well-informed membership guided by the efforts of many dedicated volunteer leaders. With a membership numbering almost 30,000 member families, it is evident that Farm Bureau is the voice of New York agriculture. Farm Bureau will continue to meet the needs of those who make farming their livelihood and rural New York their home. Westhampton Beach Farmers Market Corporate Sponsors
Much gratitude must be given to the community corporate sponsors of the 2011 Westhampton Beach Farmers Market. Without their financial support, encouragement and many contributions, this market would not be the great success that it has become on Eastern Long Island, in Suffolk County and in the State of New York.
Sincere gratitude goes out to James Hatter & Jennifer Hecht and the staff at Astoria Federal Savings Bank located at 71 Sunset Avenue in Westhampton Beach for all of their support and enthusiasm. In addition to their finacial support to defray the cost of markeying the event throughout the year, Astoria Federal Savings Bank has been generous with their donation of over 1500 reusable fiber market bags that have been distributed to market shoppers for the purpose of carrying their weekly purchasers. Special thanks must also be given to Jayne Ebert and the staff at Suffolk County National Bank located at 144 Sunset Avenue in Westhampton Beach. Suffolk County National Bank generously sponsors monthly educational and instructional seminars conducted at the Westhampton Beach Farmers Market on such topics as composting and recycling for a greener and healthy local community.
