Arts & Crafts Show A Success!
The Westhampton Chamber of Commerce held the annual Spring Arts and Crafts show on Saturday and Sunday June 2nd and third. The weather held out for all to enjoy the many displays of finery. The artisans and craftspeople came from far and wide to present their oils, acrylics, sculptures, photography pottery, jewelry and more.
Upon entering the show, one was greeted with wonderful sculptures recycled from metal farm scrap, created by Richard and Janet Foster. Mark Suddath from Cleveland Heights, OH had an arresting grouping of hand blown and hand formed glass bowls and vases. And of course it is always fabulous to view JoAnn Maroldo's artwork depicting the local landscapes. Nichols Stained glass from Port Jefferson offered colorful beach scenes to delight the eyes. Deby Cowdin from The Blue Bag had recycled creations which took a year and a half to develop. Through trial and error Deby and her husband Scott have come up with a unique form of art. Detailed artwork from Peter The Paper Cutter brought us back to a bygone age.
If you were in the mood for something personal, say jewelry or perhaps a unique handbag you would not be dissatisfied, there were many choices to be had. Pretty pearls, golden gems and beach glass were uniquely fashioned for one's pleasure. Specialty items such as dolls and toys were to be had in an array of colors. Hand knit treasures were displayed for children and adult alike. It was a delight to taste a few of the gourmet specialties, such as Mountanwood Gourmet and Miss Amy's Preserves. Not to worry if you missed her treats~Amy will be part of the Westhampton Farmers Market.
Thank you to all the artists and craftspeople for supplying these treasures. We also would like to express our gratitude to all those who came making this event a success.
It was wonderful to experience and appreciate the creative treasures of so many talented artists! If you missed this art show you may want to mark your calender's for the August 4-5 show or the October 6-7 show.
