The Mary O. Fritchie Outdoor Art Show—one of Long Island’s finest and most popular art shows was held in Westhampton Beach on the weekend of August 4 and 5, 2007.This year’s show, sponsored by the Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce, featured the fine art of nearly 130 artists from around the country. The artists displayed their works, from paintings to photography, from sketches to sculpture, within tented areas located on the Village Green. The event was accompanied by live classical music from Peter Weiss on both Saturday and Sunday. This year marks the 70t consecutive year Westhampton has hosted an outdoor art show. (In 1938, the art show was canceled due to the “Great Hurricane of ‘38”.) In 1973, the name of the show was officially changed to the Mary O. Fritchie Outdoor Art Show. Today, the show continues to draw thousands of visitors and local residents who take the opportunity to enjoy the unique shopping, entertainment and dining experiences offered in Westhampton Beach.TThe Mary O. Fritchie Outdoor Art Show is generously supported by an Arts Foundation Grant from North Fork Bank. |
